My September Grind & a big phat THANK YOU!

As of today my blog officially reached 12,000 views! This is really exciting to me, and I want to thank everyone for reading. I hope that by continuing to write, I'll be able to keep sharing my love and passion for music with as many people as possible!

Look, it's me! I spent a day out shooting with my best friend Amber for photography class. Love it!
I know I don't usually blog about "my life" very often, mind the occasional rant about something really bothering me at the time, but it's always nice to be able to update anyone who knows me or wonders how I'm doing. Life has been great lately. I'm busy as ever, but that's how I work best. I've got two jobs this semester, one of which is teaching dance for a few hours a week, which really makes me happy! I'm also getting back into the whole "working out/getting sexy" thing again, because I don't particularly feel like gaining the Freshman 15 as a Sophomore. I avoided it last year, I'd like to avoid it again. So far I've managed to get my lazy butt to the gym twice a day... We'll see how that holds up.
A few nights ago, I discovered that the recipe for a perfect romantic evening includes a chance to see the most amazing Alaskan northern lights I've ever seen in my whole life, a shooting star that looked to be on fire as it crossed the sky, and a massive dose of Coldplay.
So, there's my little update.
Now that it's the last day of September, I'm going to post my playlist for the month. Cheers to a great first month back to school. So far it's been fun, busy, and at times, a little boring, but that's where the music comes in.
This month I'm trying something a little different. I cut my playlist down really short and made them available to download. Hopefully this is a plus for all you readers. :)

Washed Out and Kap Slap Reviews

It’s getting close to the end of the month, which means my July playlist will be due soon. As weird as this month has been for me socially, it’s been amazing musically. I’ve downloaded full albums of stuff, and it seems like everyone has something new this July. Everyone is busy, including myself. I’ve almost never been this busy.
I’d like to go ahead and share some stuff early, just because I feel like I need to keep up with my blogging and playlists more than I have lately.

The first thing I’ll bring up is the new album by Washed Out, an electronic/alternative sounding band that I don’t really listen to a whole lot. I downloaded their new album Within & Without, and honestly, there are only two of the nine songs that I don’t think I’ll really listen to. It’s that good. Unfortunately, the only other song I know by them is called “Feel It All Around”, from their 2009 album Life of Leisure. As of today, I’ve listened to it 242 times since I downloaded it in January. Within & Without is an album of relaxing, enchanting songs, some of which are almost ambient because the beat is so soft. The album is very put-together, meaning the songs are similar in sound, but are also unique. My favorites are “Amor Fati”, “You & I”, “Within & Without”, and “A Dedication”. These actually happen to be the songs with a more prominent beat, but that’s just my personal preference. Anyhow, listen to the album even if you haven’t heard of them, or if you feel there’s at least a 60% chance you’ll like them, judging from what I’ve written.

For all you “mash up” fans, if you haven’t heard Kap Slap’s AA: Audio Appropriation, you’re a f***ing loser. I’m serious. It’s 10 days old. Get to it. This is one of the most amazing gapless albums I’ve ever heard in my life. It features songs such as LMFAO’s “Party Rock Anthem”, Eminem’s “Without Me”, Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit” (yeah, dope, I know), Miike Snow’s “Silvia”, Ellie Goulding’s “Lights”, Adele’s “Rolling In the Deep”, and tons of other popular party bangers. AA is a solid hour of some of the best mixing in recent history. Anyone who likes to party needs this album. Also, anyone who likes to have their mind blown needs this album. Hook it up to your system, hit play, and dance. The end.

June (Playlist)

My, my, my. It's been quite some time... Sorry readers. Now that I'm technically working three jobs, it's hard for me to keep up with the smaller, more enjoyable parts of my life.
But I promise, you'll love my June playlist. I can't really decide what to call it (usually I have witty names for my monthly playlists) but I honestly couldn't decide on one. So I'm just going to call it June. Simple, yes, but June is such a great month... Maybe that's just the point. This last month has been really interesting, but enjoyable. I'm thankful for the people that are currently prominent in my life, and a thanks to the friend that showed me a lot of the music in this playlist.
Anyhow, I know some of the songs here aren't brand new, but it's what I've downloaded and obsessed over for the past month. The variety of music here is pretty wide, lots of hip hop, dubstep, and indie alternative too. And remember, anything you haven't heard of on here can just be Google searched or found on YouTube. Anything in green is a must-download and is amazing enough that everyone needs to hear it. Hope everyone's summer has been good so far. I know mine has.
