Refreshed and Ready

Well, here we are, slowly sliding home into the month of February. I’ve been back in Alaska for  close to a week now, and I almost can’t describe the amount of joy that the California sunshine brought to me. Normally at this time of year, I feel like a slug. I say “f*** it” to everyone and everything and turn into a bum. But this year, I feel the opposite. My sleep schedule has changed; I no longer have to set 4 different alarms to get up in the morning. I’ve been waking up promptly at 7am.  I find myself to be showing up early to classes and work, and being excited to study and do homework. I’m choosing to go with it… Don’t wanna freak myself out.
I have so much music to share with you all! I’m very excited. I practically have an entire playlist of music I either discovered or rediscovered during my vacation, and that’s all thanks to my uncle, who listens to some of the whitest music I’ve ever heard. HOWEVER… It somehow fit quite well into the everyday flow of things while I sat under the palm trees, peeled fresh oranges, and chatted with elderly family friends. The music I’m about to post is quite different than what I usually listen to, but I found peace and understanding in these songs, so maybe, you will too.

CALIFORNIA OLDIES

Billie Holiday
Miles Davis Quintet
Beach Boys
Beatles
James Taylor
Chuck Berry
First Aid Kit
ABBA
Louis Armstrong

Hopefully, you haven’t given up on me yet. I’ve still got more music to give you!
This is just about everything I’ve recently acquired and am currently listening to. There are a lot of really fun songs to nod your head to, and some slower songs to chill to (most of these can be found at Camelbackmusic.com). Have at it.

From Anchorage, AK

Hey everyone,
I'm currently blogging to you from Anchorage, AK. I have two hours left until my next flight; final destination being LA. Then comes the two-ish hour drive to La Quinta, where I'll be spending the next 11 days soaking up as much Vitamin D as my body can handle.
I saw an awesome blood-red moon rising this morning as I flew out of Fairbanks.
This is me, sitting in the airport, lovely snow and mountains in the background. The next picture of me I'll post will probably be me either hugging a cactus or a palm tree, whichever comes first.

Alright, my butt's starting to fall asleep.
Bye.

Oh, by the way. Check out my previous post, the playlist. It's keeping me company.

Desert Escape 2012

I'm leaving -40 degree Alaska for an escape to SoCal, about 60 hours from now.
...Words cannot express the amount of colorful, glittery excitement coursing through my bones.
It looks something like this.

Anyway, about a week or two ago, I made a playlist of songs that I can imagine myself lounging, tanning, swimming, shopping, and de-stressing to. As much as I would love to take you all with me, I can't. I can, however, instruct you in the following ways, in order to have a similar experience.

  1. Download Playlist.
  2. Preheat the oven to 80 degrees F.
  3. Add in a cactus, pan of water, sand, iPod, headphones, and as many outlet malls as you can fit.
  4. Set the timer for 12 days.
  5. Get in.

See? Not so bad...

Put these in any order you like, I just listed them alphabetically by artist to make them more organized, because some of them are new, and some are old. There are some amazing artists to note in here, such as The Airborne Toxic Event, Asa, Carousel, Circa Survive, Mansions, Walter Meego, and The Xx.
Seriously though, this playlist is one to relax and have a January-summer romance to. Get to clickin'.

Thank you to all of my readers, and hope everyone is having a great 2012 so far! Enjoi.
