Collin Mcloughlin

I've been watching Collin's cover videos for a while, and just recently he posted a new video for his original song, Chasing Dreams. You may have seen his cover of Titanium, by David Guetta ft. Sia. It'll give you chills. I love the fact that he shoots his videos in black & white; the monochromatic effect is simple, and elegant, in a way.
If you don't want to take the time to go all the way to his YouTube channel and read his bio, I'll just post it here. Collin is very inspiring to me, and I wish I had the drive to pursue music in the ways that he has so far in his life.
"22 year old Collin McLoughlin's dreams appear to be coming true before our very eyes. His energy and passion for writing and performing great music, continuously fueled by his strong talent and the support of his ever-growing fanbase both inside and outside of the music industry has brought an exciting new voice to today's pop music scene. Collin began his career as an acoustic artist, writing and recording original material in his early teens. Following a successful tour to support this guitar-based music, he was recruited by three fellow students at Colgate University to create the hip-hop/R&B group, Nautical Young. Collin began by writing and singing hooks and quickly began to co-produce songs and manage the group. Nautical Young's debut album, 'Just in Time' was released in April, 2010, sponsored by DJ Benzi. The mixtape was met with rave reviews by fans and critics alike, leading to a college tour across the East Coast. With the group members heading to different coasts upon graduation, Collin focused his efforts on his solo career and began recording a debut solo project in May, 2010. Combining his recent involvement in hip hop and R&B, with his passion for electronica, and his acoustic roots, Collin's solo project serves as a refreshing blend of electronic, soul and pop rhythms. He has performed with Wale, Fabolous, K'naan, Sam Adams, and Lupe Fiasco. Collin plans to release his solo album in the electro / soul genres in the coming weeks, followed by a solo tour to promote the project all while juggling his role as a graduate student at NYU's Music Business Program."
Very impressive, Collin. We look forward to hearing more from you in the future. :)

Lessons Learned. ...and learned.

I will not bend over backwards for someone who won't bend over backwards for me. I will not always be available. Sometimes, I am busy and have to say no, sorry. I can't. I will no longer let anyone walk all over me unless I am also allowed to walk all over them. My time is not free.

No Day But Today.

I know this doesn't really fit with the style of my blog, but it's still important. Two weeks ago, my best friend Amber and I decided we were going to get in shape. Really, really in shape. We saw a really cute YouTube video by Melanie Iglesias, and wanted to kick ourselves into shape because we were tired of looking at girls like Melanie and wishing we looked like them, with no guts or motivation to even try. So, we gathered up the guts and motivation to start getting into shape. It's been really enjoyable so far, and a few times we've managed to make it to the gym twice a day... :) We both have goals and ideas for ourselves and for each other, and we kick each other's asses at the gym. It's really fun. So, heres a little glimpse into our lives recently. We're going to maintain a Vlog and hopefully another Blog to go along with it. We mainly want to be able to look back at the end of next May and see our progress and be happy with the hard work and dedication we put into making ourselves happier and healthier.
So, here's to a strong body and mind. Cheers. :)

Little Touch Ups

WOW, this looks different, doesn't it? Don't worry, you're still in the right place. I just felt the need to clean up a bit. I get in random organizational moods and have urges to tidy things up.
Basically, I just changed the template to something I feel is a little more aesthetically pleasing. I also notice that the more I use photos in my posts, the better my blog will look, especially in this format.
The Reviews and Playlists pages are still present and up to date, so no worries there, either. If anything is missing that anyone would like to see or has questions about, let me know, I'm not able to go through and fine-tune everything just yet. These also probably won't be the only changes I make to the looks, either.

Have no fear, this is still my music blog, there will be no change of content.

Caio! :)

Make the sea turn turtle...

I swear, you'll be jamming to this song all day long. Just listen to it once. Brush your teeth to it. Drive to the grocery store to it. Listen to it in the grocery store. Just do it.

This is her original version of Love U More.

She only has 434 followers on Soundcloud, myself included. That is not enough. Listen to her original tracks, be blown away. It's as simple as that.

I. Love. This. Album.

Last night I downloaded about seven new albums worth of music. I woke up this morning and decided to start listening to all of it. I'm only on the second album I downloaded, but I HAVE to share this. I'm so amazed.
I don't normally go out and look for music in the "ambient electronic" genre, but I don't mind listening to it if it's interesting and makes me feel something. And damn, this morning, I'm feeling it.

Introducing Tycho.

Here's a little example of what to look forward to when the album comes out later this month. I don't know a lot about Tycho, it's kind of hard to find any sort of biography other than what's on Facebook. But Tycho is made up of Scott Hansen, a graphic artist from San Francisco, who apparently decided he also needed a music project on the side. This guy's sound is genius. One look at his artwork will give you an idea of what his sound is like. Everything you feel when you look at Hansen's art is echoed perfectly by every track of the album. Although some songs have a much more prominent beat than others, giving them almost a pop-like sound, I think any actual lyrics over these tracks would take too much from the way the songs allow a listener to form their own opinions and own feelings within the music.
I'm giving this album five stars, and I'll definitely be keeping Tycho under close watch in the future.
