My September Grind & a big phat THANK YOU!

As of today my blog officially reached 12,000 views! This is really exciting to me, and I want to thank everyone for reading. I hope that by continuing to write, I'll be able to keep sharing my love and passion for music with as many people as possible!

Look, it's me! I spent a day out shooting with my best friend Amber for photography class. Love it!
I know I don't usually blog about "my life" very often, mind the occasional rant about something really bothering me at the time, but it's always nice to be able to update anyone who knows me or wonders how I'm doing. Life has been great lately. I'm busy as ever, but that's how I work best. I've got two jobs this semester, one of which is teaching dance for a few hours a week, which really makes me happy! I'm also getting back into the whole "working out/getting sexy" thing again, because I don't particularly feel like gaining the Freshman 15 as a Sophomore. I avoided it last year, I'd like to avoid it again. So far I've managed to get my lazy butt to the gym twice a day... We'll see how that holds up.
A few nights ago, I discovered that the recipe for a perfect romantic evening includes a chance to see the most amazing Alaskan northern lights I've ever seen in my whole life, a shooting star that looked to be on fire as it crossed the sky, and a massive dose of Coldplay.
So, there's my little update.
Now that it's the last day of September, I'm going to post my playlist for the month. Cheers to a great first month back to school. So far it's been fun, busy, and at times, a little boring, but that's where the music comes in.
This month I'm trying something a little different. I cut my playlist down really short and made them available to download. Hopefully this is a plus for all you readers. :)

"damn, now i gotta do another blog post..."

It sucks that I'm on the internet so much. I keep finding really awesome music videos, and it's gotten to the point where it only makes sense to write a blog post about them. I think I'm catching up on all the blogging I didn't do last month...

First up is a new one from Avril Lavigne. She and I were super tight back in middle school, I sang "Complicated" at a karaoke contest when I was like 13 and won a $25 gift card at the mall... Good times.

Simple but lovely. One thing I like about her is that she doesn't change. Same beautiful, simple, badass Avril.

Next, I found the new video for a song I adore, Love Letter by Shwayze ft. The Cataracs & Dev. The song itself is really cute, and I think they did a great job with the video, as well.

So, I'd like to expand a little on DEV. It's basically like Lady Gaga and Ke$ha had a baby. Creepy, right? She's one of those terrible things that you just have to watch because you can't look away... Like mother, like daughter.

Now, if you close your eyes and just listen to the song, you'll hear some pretty interesting things. The initial reaction is probably, "Hey, that one chick that sings G6!" Bingo. The underlying melody is also from G6. The sax bit is very Calabria 2007, don't know where that comes from, but it's cool.
She's also got another popular song that many people have heard remixed, "Bass Down Low". DEV seems like she might me on her way up in popularity, so keep a close watch on her. I can't wait to hear more.

Miles States: Alaska's freshest in Hip-Hop

I've been asked to do a little review write up on a friend of mine, Miles States. He currently resides here in Fairbanks, Alaska. Even though he asked me to help him out by putting him on my blog, I would've done it anyways, because he's pretty much one of the best small town artists I've ever heard.
His voice is a lot like the hip-hop/pop sounds from from Mac Miller, Sam Adams, and Brenton Duvall. His beats are strong and clean, just a little old school in some songs, which is cool as well.  Miles is doing a lot to get his name out there and recognized. He's been advertising heavily on Facebook and has done some local performances here in Fairbanks, as well. He recently turned down a record deal from a small company in Vegas because he's still enjoying his indie status, but is still looking for other offers.
Give some of his songs a listen, and check out his ReverbNation and Facebook pages. My favorite song is No Worries. What's yours?

Happiest August Ever!

August was probably one of the best months I’ve had in a very long time. It was just pure happiness. The accomplishments I made, the people around me, even the weather. Looking back on it, I’m extremely thankful for everything that happened last month, and I feel like a new person.

This month in music simply ROCKED. These are 62 songs worth of kick-ass jams. As you can see, in the far right column I’ve left my rating up that I gave it in iTunes, which translated to a percentage when I pasted it in, instead of a series of stars. Anything with a 100 is definitely worth listening to, and everything else was at least good enough to make the playlist. Enjoi!

HAPPIEST AUGUST EVER!
